Counseling Groups

Think Differently, Feel Differently

Living with Parkinson’s can be overwhelming and by its very nature unpredictable. For the person living with a diagnosis it means facing an uncertain future that may include changes in physical capacity, possibly limiting the ability to complete everyday tasks, and changes in thinking that may include depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and possibly dementia. Caring for a person with Parkinson’s can also bring about feelings of depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, grief and loss, and may include the use of substances as a way to cope.

Group Counseling

Group counseling sessions will encompass a variety of topics.  Examples of topics include avoiding caregiver burnout, managing conflict, dealing with grief and loss in everyday life, managing anxiety and overcoming depression.  Counseling groups are separate from support groups and will focus not only on educating participants about topics, but on doing exercises and learning skills to help participants deal with the challenges they are facing.

Sessions meeting now include:

Care-partner Support
