The Parkinson’s Association began as a small support group in 1980 that brought together families from across San Diego County. The Parkinson's Association has grown from one half-time staff member to a staff of over 20 professionals, serving 40,000 people who are living with Parkinson’s disease and over 100,000 family members and caregivers. We serve all of Southern California with operations in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego counties. Through the years our mission has included improving the quality of life for those affected by Parkinson’s through education, services and the support of promising research. Today we continue offering education and services but are now a direct provider of Parkinson's therapies that ease the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. These therapies include counseling, physical, and vocal programs that help people live well with Parkinson's disease. We are now a direct provider of research programs while aggressively supporting Southern California research programs aimed at curing Parkinson's disease.
